Aha is making a bold move by introducing virtual channels to its platform. This is the way of blending the familiarity of linear TV with the convenience of on-demand streaming.
They function much like traditional TV channels, where a dedicated team curates content and creates playlists of shows and movies. This means you can bid farewell to those minutes spent pondering what to watch next.
Aha plans that the introduction of virtual channels aims to broaden the platform’s appeal. While on-demand streaming has its merits, linear TV programming still holds a special place in the hearts of many viewers. Aha’s innovative approach seeks to strike a balance by offering a format that combines the best of both worlds.
Aha is set to kick off its virtual channels with the General Entertainment (GEC) genre. This means viewers can anticipate a diverse mix of series and movies. Initially, Aha plans to provide around six to eight hours of programming each day, complete with a 30-day programming guide. While there may be some overlap with their on-demand content, exclusive programming is also in the pipeline.
The good news for eager viewers is that Aha has completed testing and plans to launch these virtual channels in the next two to three weeks, with a target launch date in October. The initial rollout will feature two channels, with a primary focus on India and the US markets.
Even better, Aha plans to include virtual channels as part of its existing subscription packages. Some channels may feature advertising, offering opportunities for advertisers to reach the audience.
Let’s see if more OTT services adapt the same.
