Aha Video and Applause Entertainment have joined hands to bring alive the story of the late former prime minister of India, P. V. Narasimha Rao, on screen. The biopic series of the late political luminary will be directed by accomplished filmmaker, Prakash Jha.
Though the series was announced way back in December 2021, Aha Video and Applause Entertainment have turned the spotlight back on it now that P. V. Narasimha Rao is back in the news owing to the recent bestowing of the Bharat Ratna on him.
Aha Video’s P. V. Narasimha Rao series will be adapted from Vinay Sitapati’s book ‘Half Lion: How P.V. Narasimha Rao Transformed India’. The series will recount P. V. Narasimha Rao’s rise from a small town in Telangana to become the Prime Minister of India. The series will capture the many nuances in his personality, from his skills as a statesman and lawyer, to his profiency with languages – he could reportedly speak 17 languages, both Indian and foreign.
It will focus on his revolutionary financial reforms during his prime ministerial term (1991 – 1996) that heralded liberalisation in the country, whose far-reaching consequences in India’s economy can be felt to this day. P. V. Narasimha Rao’s economic reforms turned around the fortunes of the country like nothing else ever could.
There’s no information on the cast and rest of the crew attached to the Aha Video – Applause Entertainment series on P. V. Narasimha Rao yet. The series will be a multi-lingual one, and will release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages.
