The critically-acclaimed Malayalam hit film, Jallikattu got dubbed into Telugu and had a direct online release on Aha Video. The movie back when premiered on Aha Video did not get enough traction and the talk and reviews are also not on par due to the nativity issues. But then, the movie is selected as India’s official entry at the Oscars in the Foreign Language films category.
Now, Aha Video is extensively promoting the film and the film is said to be registered a good number of hits. This film has come in handy for the OTT platform especially as it has no movie releases lined up for the next few weeks. People have been watching it as they wanted to check if it stands a chance at the Oscars. The availability in Telugu makes it more special.
Jallikattu revolves around a tamed buffalo that liberates itself from its owner on the eve of its scheduled slaughter and runs amok through a town in Kerala’s Idduki district. The movie is directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery with a screenplay by S. Hareesh and R. Jayakumar. It is based on the short story Maoist by Hareesh and stars Antony Varghese, Chemban Vinod Jose, Sabumon Abdusamad, and Santhy Balachandran.
