Telugu language film ‘Hit: The First Case‘ is now available to watch on Amazon Prime Video in Kannada and Malayalam. It is written and directed by debutant director Sailesh Kolanu and produced by Prashanti Tipirneni. The movie starred Vishwak Sen and Ruhani Sharma in the lead roles and has cinematography by S. Manikandan. The official Hindi remake of the same name starring Rajkumar Rao and Sanya Malhotra was also directed by Sailesh Kolanu.
The movie ‘Hit’ told the story of a police officer in the ‘Homicide Intervention Team’ who with great observation solves difficult murder mysteries. He suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and is in love with Neha, a colleague in the forensics department. Neha goes missing one day and a strange connection is found between a murder and Neha‘s disappearance.
‘Hit: The Second Case’ was released in theaters on the 2nd of December this year and had Adivi Sesh as the lead. And as per the deals between producers and OTT platforms like Amazon Prime Video, there will be an 8-week window between the theatrical release and OTT premiere of a film. The sequel will probably release on Prime Video after the 15th of January.
Hit: The First Case was available on OTT for a long time, but adding audio in new languages after so long indicates ambition for the sequel. People will want to know about the story and watch the first film before watching the sequel, and audiences will prefer the movie in the language of their comfort rather than subtitles. It is a great promotional strategy and will help the viewership of both the first and second films of the franchise.
