Prabhas is undoubtedly the biggest pan India superstar currently and the craze for his next is always sky high. The ‘Rebel’ actor shot to super stardom in whole from his work in S.S. Rajamouli‘s magnum opus ‘Baahubali’ film series and has cemented his position as one of the most bankable actors in India. Prabhas is gearing up for his next – ‘Radhe Shyam’ which is going to be a romantic drama movie. ‘Radhe Shyam’ is being directed by Radha Krishna Kumar.
Prabhas naturally comes off as an out an out action star with his build up and physique, but the actor has done several romantic movies as well. 1. Darling (Disney+ Hotstar – Tamil with English Subtitles, MX Player – Telugu)
‘Darling’ is the movie which gave Prabhas the nickname of “Darling Star”. The 2010 movie was directed by A Karunakaran and follows the story of Prabha, a young man who gets into a tough situation when a gangster’s daughter falls for him. To get out of the situation, Prabha tells the gangster about how his heart is already taken and reminisces the story with his childhood sweetheart in Switzerland.
Darling also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Prabhu, Shraddha Das, Mukesh Rishi and others.
2. Varsham – (MX Player – Telugu, YouTube – English Subtitles)
Varsham is a romantic action movie which was directed by Sobhan. The 2004 movie starred Prabhas along with Gopichand in negative role and Trisha playing the female lead. The story follows Venkat and Shailja who fall in love during a train journey. But Shailja’s father disapproves of them and prepares to marry off her to Bhadranna a local landlord who is obsessed with Shailja. Varsham is the perfect movie for the fans of Prabhas as it shows him in romantic as well as action avatar.
3. Mr. Perfect – (Voot – Hindi, MX Player – Hindi, Telugu)
Mr. Perfect is a romantic comedy movie which was directed by Dasaradh and released in 2011. The movie stars Prabhas along with Kajal Aggarwal, Taapsee Pannu.
The story follows Vicky, a successful expert in gaming software who lives in Australia. He lives by one rule and that is to not compromise in anything. But when his soon to be wife Priya who is a successful doctor, starts to make compromise with the situations just to be with him, Vicky has a change of heart and he realises the need to compromise.
4. Pournami – (MX Player – Telugu, YouTube – English Subtitles)
Pournami is a romantic dance drama movie which was directed by Prabhu Deva. The movie released in 2006 and starred Prabhas, Charmy Kaur, Trisha and Rahul Dev. The movie follows the story of a village where there is a tradition for a family that a girl from the house will and should dance in Shiva’s temple on an auspicious day.
Pournami, who is supposed to dance on the day goes missing from the village with mere months left in the performance. Instead of her, her younger sister Chandrakala is held the responsibility to perform. A stranger arrives in the village and vows to teach the woman.
5. Bujjigadu – Amazon Prime Video – Telugu with English Subtitles)
Bujjigadu is a romantic movie which was directed by Puri Jagannadh. The 2008 movie starred Prabhas along with Trisha in the lead roles. The story follows two childhood friends Bujji and Chitti who have a severe fight where Chitti demands that Bujji should leave her alone. Bujji protests this and in turn Chitti asks Bujji to stay away from her for 12 years in order to prove his love for her. Bujji does so and shifts to Chennai for 12 years. He returns after the all these years to find Chitti but instead meets with several obstacles in his path.
6. Chakram – (MX Player – Telugu, Hindi)
Chakram is a romantic drama written and directed by Krishna Vamsi. The movie stars Prabhas along with Asin and Charmy Kaur. The movie follows Chakram and Lakshmi two young foreign returned doctors who aspires to open a hospital to help the people. They love each other and decide to marry, but on the day of the marriage Chakram abandons Lakshmi and moves to Hyderabad as he is diagnosed with Blood Cancer. But soon enough his past catches up with him.
