Episode 6 of the Disney+ Ahsoka series, “Far, Far Away”, marked the grand returns of the Heir to the Empire, Grand Admiral Thrawn, and the man who defeated Thrawn in ‘Rebels’, Ezra Bridger. Witnessing these two iconic Star Wars characters in their live-action avatars was nothing short of a dream come true. As much as we loved seeing Bridger and Thrawn in Episode 6, the episode also suffered from one major problem. This episode proved that the protagonist, Ahsoka, is not even that important in the series.
Right from the pilot episode, the ongoing Ahsoka series has focused more on the return of Thrawn and Ezra instead of exploring and bestowing more depth to the protagonist’s arc in the Star Wars franchise. Episode 5 can be considered an exception in this scenario. The series feels like the unofficial fifth season of Rebels. It has failed to concentrate properly on Ahsoka Tano, pretty much like what happened with Boba Fett in ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ series.
Ahsoka barely appeared in Episode 6, allowing Ezra and Thrawn to grab all the limelight. This scenario looks strikingly similar to Din Djarin and Grogu stealing fans’ attention from Boba Fett in his own series. The ongoing Rosario Dawson starrer has turned out great so far. But it is not perfect. And it is because the show’s supporting characters look more intriguing than the protagonist. Apart from Thrawn and Ezra, we have the master-apprentice duo of Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati. The arcs and motives of these two characters look more exciting and entertaining than Ahsoka’s.
Many fans and critics have also criticised Dawson’s stoic and expressionless take on Ahsoka. She is considered one of the most brave and enthusiastic characters in Star Wars. However, the events of The Clone Wars and Rebels have changed her and her personality, which makes it difficult for Star Wars fans to connect with Dawson’s Ahsoka.
We hope the remaining episodes do justice to Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka. Stream all episodes on Disney+ Hotstar. Stay tuned for more updates.
