Aishwarya Lekshmi’s ‘Kumari’ finally has a release date! The movie is one of the most intriguing and expected projects to release shortly. Masked in secrecy despite the project having such huge hopes riding on it, the movie is set to release on October 28th.
The movie’s teaser was well received by the audience upon release recently. While the mere fact that the movie is a Prithviraj Productions film is reason enough to wait for the film, the teaser showed us the movie will take place in a very traditional backdrop. Movies of such a premise have been long awaited in Malayalam cinema, and Kumari was a welcome change from the urban and semi-urban stories we have seen recently. The movie’s first song was released just now, and it is at the end that the release date has been announced.
The movie besides Aishwarya will also star Rahul Madhav, Shine Tom Chacko, Swasika, and National Award winner Surabhi Lakshmi, among others. Aishwarya was last seen in the Tamil Blockbuster ‘Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1’ as the much-loved Poonguzhali, the Princess of the Ocean. She also has the Prime Video direct release Telugu film ‘Ammu’, set to release on October 19th whose trailer was well received. Seems the month will be an eventful one for the star.
The premise of Kumari reads:” The world of Kumari, who is married off far away to Kanhirangat, a cursed land beyond Illymala, in the west. A naive Kumari arrives in the cursed land, where people are ready to sacrifice their lives to preserve tradition and power.”
If the film does as well as expected, the film will be a game-changer for everyone involved. The movie is directed by Nirmal Sahadev of ‘Ranam’ fame and will be released exclusively in theatres.
