Ponniyin Selvan, Mani Ratnam’s much-awaited movie recently dropped a brand new poster and had fans going gaga over it. The brand new Ponniyin Selvan poster drop gave a glimpse of how great the movie will be. The poster in every sense felt regal and royal, and why wouldn’t it, the movie is all about a great king and his dynasty. Ponniyin Selvan has been in planning for a long long time now and fans have been growing impatient as to when they could see a glimpse of the movie.
Right now, even though the movie hasn’t seen much progress when it comes to trailers or teasers, the preparations are in full swing at the moment. The news right now is that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has officially resumed shooting for the upcoming movie. Her schedule apparently has started in Puducherry and will continue there. She is joined by actress Aishwarya Lekhsmi for the same. Aishwarya Rai Bacchan is reportedly essaying a dual role in the movie. The roles are of the characters, Nandhini and Mandakini Devi and Aishwarya Lekshmi reportedly essay the role of Poonguzhali in the movie.
The movie is directed by Mani Ratnam. Besides, director Ratnam is also credited as the writer and co-producer for the upcoming film. The movie is produced by Mani Ratnam under his banner Madras Talkies along with Lyca Productions. The film is co-written by Mani Ratnam, Elango Kumaravel, and B. Jeyamohan. The film’s music is composed by the musical maestro AR Rahman and cinematography is done by Ravi Varman.
The movie is based on a 1955 fictional novel of the same name written by author Kalki Krishnamurthy. The movie and book are based on Arulmozhivarman and his early days. It follows his story and tells how he ends up becoming Rajaraja Chola I, the great emperor of the Chola dynasty. Being a historical drama and one that spans over so many years and decades, it focuses on more than 50 characters, but the most important and principal characters of the story are somewhere around 12.
To carry such a big movie, definitely, Mani Ratnam has gathered up a great cast. Besides Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Aishwary Lekshmi, Karthi, Vikram, Trisha Krishnan, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Jayam Ravi, and many others are on board the movie. With time, all the cast will be joining the team, but for now, the shoot specifically focuses on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
