In case you guys didn’t know already, the trailer for the highly anticipated drama thriller, ‘Ajagajantharam‘ is releasing in theatres, two days before Christmas ever. This will be the second time in two months that the film will have changed release dates since the second reopening of the Kerala theatres. ‘Ajagajantharam’ was supposed to be the first movie to release in theatres after theatres reopened in Kerala, but the film producers were not sure if people would go to cinema halls to see this movie (this was the first time). The release date changed for the second time when it was announced that ‘Marakkar: Lion of The Arabian Sea‘ will be released on the same date.
And it looks like ‘Ajagajantharam’ may have dodged a bullet the second time around because ‘Marakkar’ seems to have earned Rs. 100 crores through online booking alone – before, the film has even reached the theatres. Now granted, most films featuring Antony Varghese in the lead role is usually a must-watch film, but Mohanlal’s historical war epic has been a more highly anticipated film, with people waiting for ‘Marakkar’ since 2019. Also, the pan-Indian appeal of this film would mean that ‘Ajagajantharam’ would miss out on a lot of revenue from other sources as well.
However, with ‘Kurup’ showing the eagerness of the Malayali crowd with its almost Rs. 80 crores+ earnings, we don’t think ‘Ajagajantharam’ has anything to worry about, with a later release date. Except for maybe a head-on collision against the first Malayalam superhero film, ‘Minnal Murali’. But for that, we will have to wait and see.
The Antony ‘Pepe’ Varghese starring feature film, ‘Ajagajantharam’ will release in theatres on 23rd December 2021. Check out the trailer for this upcoming feature, below:
