Looks like Ajay Devgn–Sidharth Malhotra starrer Thank God is on the verge of facing a huge financial loss, thanks to the second wave of the pandemic in the country. The film was in talks for almost 2 years now, but the fans saw a ray of hope when producers announced that they are finally done with the mahurat shot of the film in Mumbai in January, 2021.
The makers of the Thank God aimed for the mid-April schedule of the film as the film’s co-lead Sidharth Malhotra was occupied with the shooting for Mission Majnu. But since the second wave has rampaged the film fraternity, numerous shootings have been cancelled or postponed for an unknown period of time. Earlier, we have learnt from the sources that the makers of the film have already created a gigantic set in Film City. The source has further added, “A bit of it was also being readied by the side as the team worked on beginning shoots for the first schedule. But when the new restrictions were put forward by the Maharashtra Government in April, the makers already predicted it would last longer than what it was initially planned for”. In that uncertain situation, the makers could only dismantle the complete set. They eventually went ahead with that plan and demolished the set which was of approx. Rs. 2 Crores. They chose to do that because given the situation, if they hadn’t brought down the set, the loss would have been many times higher.
Ajay Devgn fans were extremely excited when it was announced that the mega star along with Sidharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet Singh are all set to collaborate with director Indra Kumar for his next film titled Thank God, which reportedly is based on a Danish comedy film ‘Sorte Kugler’.
Thank God is being produced by T-Series Films and Maruti International production. T-Series head Bhushan Kumar earlier said in a statement that Thank God is a very interesting and entertaining script and as Indra Kumar films are hardcore commercial laughter riots, it will be a pleasure for him to collaborate with Indra Kumar. He added, “I have worked with Ajay Sir and he aces this genre while Sidharth and Rakul will show their fans something new with Thank God”.
Now, with the huge loss in terms of production and the untimely halt in shooting, no one from the production team of Thank God knows if and when the usual proceedings will begin again but we, as fans can only hope that this interesting comedy can go on floors as soon as possible.
