According to reports in the media, the deal between Ajay Devgn and Amazon Prime Video is massive, with an astronomical amount of money involved. Five out of Ajay Devg’s slate of films will be exclusively stream on Amazon Prime Video. It is not clear whether the concerned five films will be Amazon Prime Originals, or just streaming rights for Ajay Devgn’s theatrical releases.
As reported by us earlier, Ajay Devgn has already been signed on for Disney Plus Hotstar’s Indian adaptation of Luther, the popular BBC One crime investigation show starring Idris Elba. Now, with this Amazon Prime Video deal, Ajay Devgn has tied up with two of the topmost streaming services in India.
In the race to win the streaming wars, foreign OTT platforms with deep pockets are keen to cash in on the popularity of Bollywood stars in India. Netflix has reportedly signed a lucrative multi-content deal with top stars Shahid Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, among others. Ajay Devgn already has the Luther adaptation, besides direct OTT releases of his The Big Bull and Bhuj: The Pride Of India, with Disney Plus Hotstar. The Amazon Prime Video deal is just cherry on the cake for the Bollywood superstar.
