Ajay Devgn’s keenly awaited film ‘Maidaan’ finally has a release date in theatres. The rousing sports drama will release in cinema halls across the country in April 2024, as an Eid release. Producers Bayview Projects haven’t revealed the exact release date for Maidaan yet, except that it will be an Eid release. Maidaan will set up a direct clash with Akshay Kumar’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan which also releases in theatres on Eid 2024, specifically on 9th April.
Sports drama film Maidaan has been languishing in the cans without a release since 2021. It was earlier slated to release in theatres on Dussehra 2021. Further dates were set for June 2022, June 2023 and so on. But owing to various reasons, Maidaan couldn’t make it to the theatres on any of those dates.
Now that Maidaan finally has a new confirmed release date, let’s hope it manages to keep its date with the theatres. The first trailer for Maidaan will be revealed this week, on 7th March.
‘Maidaan’ is produced by Boney Kapoor, along with Akash Chawla, Arunava Joy Sengupta and Zee Studios. It is directed by Amit Sharma, who has earlier directed the hit film, Badhaai Ho. The film stars Ajay Devgn in the lead role, along with South actress Priyamani.
The film tells the story of Indian national football team coach and manager Syed Abdul Rahim, who is widely considered as the architect of Indian football. Ajay Devgn plays the role of Syed Abdul Rahim in ‘Maidaan’.
Gajraj Rao plays a prominent role in ‘Maidaan’, along with Rudranil Ghosh. Interestingly, ‘Maidaan’ will feature cameo appearances from several real life International football luminaries, including players, coaches and commentators.
