Akshay Kumar and Radhika Madan started shoot for ‘Soorarai Pottru’ Hindi remake today with a coconut breaking ceremony. The yet to be titled is helmed by Sudha Kongara who also directed the Tamil version starring Suriya in the lead.
Announcing the commencement of shoot on Twitter with a video of Radhika Madan breaking the coconut, Akshay Kumar wrote,
“With the auspicious coconut-breaking and a small prayer in our heart, we begin the filming of our yet untitled film which is about dreams and the power of it In case you’ll have any title suggestions, do share and of course your best wishes ”

The film is inspired from the life of G. R. Gopinath, the founder of Simplify Deccan and is a story about dreams and its power. The original Tamil version, that could not make it to theatres due to the pandemic and released on Amazon Prime Video, had received great acclaim from both critics and public.
The Hindi remake starring Akshay Kumar, Radhika Madan and Paresh Rawal in prominent roles will be produced by Suriya and Jyotika’s 2D Entertainment in association with Vikram Malhotra’s Abundantia Entertainment, Akshay Kumar’s Cape of Good Films and Guneet Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment.
While ‘Udaan’ the Hindi dubbed version of Suriya’s ‘Soorarai Pottru’ is already available on Amazon Prime Video, the netizens think this latest Hindi remake is a futile attempt. Many Akshay Kumar fans could be seen requesting the khiladi star in the comments to get going on a fresh script rather than remakes.
