Fresh off the heels after his recent releases namely Rohit Shetty’s cop actioner ‘Sooryavanshi’ and Aanand L. Rai’s comedy-drama ‘Atrangi Re’, Akshay Kumar is all geared up for his multiple forthcoming movies which are under different stages of production.
And amongst them is a premium film project titled ‘Ram Setu’. In a recent revelation to the renowned global publication Variety, the Bollywood superstar has revealed the release date for the eagerly anticipated movie ‘Ram Setu’.
‘Ram Setu’ is all set for a grand release next year on 24th October 2022 as per the latest info by the superstar himself. The film is being touted as an action-adventure drama where Akshay Kumar portrays the role of an archaeologist (named Ram Kumar) for the first time in his career and the intriguing story ostensibly revolves around the titular Ram Setu bridge.
How Akshay Kumar’s character attempts to ascertain the truth behind the Ram Setu bridge purportedly forms the film’s underlying premise. So, the movie is expected to delve into India’s rich historical heritage.
‘Ram Setu’ is written and directed by Abhishek Sharma, whose directorial filmography includes critically acclaimed films such as ‘Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran’ and ‘Tere Bin Laden’. And this is not the first time he will be directing Akshay Kumar as the actor-director duo had earlier collaborated for the 2014 comedy film ‘The Shaukeens’.
Besides Akshay Kumar in the lead role, ‘Ram Setu’ also features Jacqueline Fernandez (as an English archaeologist), Nushrratt Bharuccha (as Ram’s daughter), and Satyadev Kancharana in pivotal roles. The film also marks the Bollywood film production debut for OTT giant Amazon Prime Video (co-producer).
‘Ram Setu’ had commenced filming in March 2021 and had recently concluded the Ooty and Diu schedules in October, and December first week, respectively.
