Akshay Kumar has announced the release date of its upcoming spy-thriller film ‘Bell Bottom’. The much awaited film will release in theatres around the world on 19th August, 2021.
Helmed by Ranjit M Tewari with a script from Aseem Arrora and Parveez Sheikh, ‘Bell Bottom’ is set in the 80s and is a spy-thriller film shot predominately in the UK. The film promises to offer a mix of intriguing espionage, action, drama and a lot more.
In a video post announcing the film’s release date Akshay Kumar, who stars as a RAW agent in the film, wrote, “Mission: To Entertain you on the BIG SCREEN

‘Bell Bottom’ was earlier scheduled to launch in theatres on 28th May, 2021 and then rescheduled for 27th July, 2021 but the ongoing pandemic situation made the makers rethink their decision and now the film has once again got a new release date. Moreover, it will be the first big budget Bollywood film to release in theatres post the second wave of COVID-19 in the country.
This will help many others to come forward and set a release date for other tentpole titles as ‘Bell Bottom’ would have already tested the waters for them. Since the coronavirus situation has seen a slight improvement and the producers have been sitting with completed projects for way too long now, the decision to finally release the film in theatres seemed inevitable.
Other than Akshay Kumar, ‘Bell Bottom’ stars Vaani Kapoor, Lara Dutta and Huma Qureshi in prominent roles. The film is bankrolled by Vashu Bhangnani, Jacky Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani and Nikhil Advani. Pooja Entertainment and Emmay Entertainment are the production companies behind the film.
It will be interesting to see if and when other mega projects like Ranveer Singh’s ’83’, Rohit Shetty’s ‘Sooryavanshi’ and others make similar announcement.
