Yesterday, streaming service Disney+ Hotstar unveiled a motion poster for Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film ‘Cuttputlli’ (earlier titled ‘Mission Cinderella’) and that it will be streaming soon on the OTT platform. And now, Disney+ Hotstar has just revealed the release date for the eagerly anticipated mystery thriller movie. ‘Cuttputlli’ will start streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar from 2nd September 2022 onwards. It has further been revealed that the film’s trailer will be out tomorrow. Check out the announcement video below.

You might already be aware that ‘Cuttputlli’ is a Hindi language remake of the critically acclaimed and commercially successful Tamil language psychological crime thriller movie ‘Ratsasan’, which came out in the year 2018.
The parent film ‘Ratsasan’ follows an aspiring director turned police officer (played by Vishnu Vishal), who sets out to track a serial killer, who targets teenage girls and murders them brutally. The film was praised for its engaging screenplay and was adeptly executed by director Ram Kumar. It’s easily one of the best serial killer thrillers made by an Indian filmmaker. Interestingly, ‘Ratsasan’ is also streaming on OTT on Disney+ Hotstar.
On the other hand, ‘Cuttputlli’ has been helmed by Ranjit M Tewari, who has previously collaborated with Akshay Kumar in last year’s spy thriller ‘Bell Bottom’. Before that, he has directed the prison drama ‘Lucknow Central’ starring Farhan Akhtar in the lead role.
Akshay Kumar, whose latest theatrical release ‘Raksha Bandhan’ has received an underwhelming response at the box office, must be hoping a lot from Disney+ Hotstar’s ‘Cuttputlli’. From the film’s premise and source material, it seems that ‘Cuttputlli’ might turn out to be the film the gifted performer has been waiting for. More can be said when the official trailer of ‘Cuttputlli’ is out tomorrow. The film also features Rakul Preet Singh and Sargun Mehta in important roles.
