It seems like Christopher Nolan is leaving no stone unturned when it comes to the casting for Oppenheimer. Well the latest to join an already stellar star-cast is Alex Wolff, who recently appeared in M. Night Shyamalan’s “Old” And Nicolas Cage starrer “Pig”.Wolff also starred in Ari Aster’s Hereditary and also appeared in Jumanji movies.
Oppenheimer, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book “American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer” by Kai Bird and late Martin J. Sherwin has Cillian Murphy who starred in Nolan’s Batman movies and ” Dunkirk” playing the theoretical physicist Robert Oppenheimer whose work in the Manhattan Project led to the invention of the atomic bomb. He is credited as the “father of the atomic bomb”, for the good or bad. The film takes on the paradox that is the life of the eminent scientist who had to risk destroying the world amidst a World War in order to save it.
Alex Wolff joins an ensemble cast for the history books led by Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Rami Malek and Benny Safdie. Josh Hartnett, Dane DeHaan, Jack Quaid, Matthew Modine, Dylan Arnold, David Krumholtz, Alden Ehrenreich, David Dastmalchian and Jason Clarke also joined the cast. Josh Peck and Matthias Schweighöfer also joined the cast lately. There are no details on Wolff’s role available yet.
The film started rolling in New Mexico since few weeks now with actors being added to the matrix every week. According to sources, actors are sometimes not even assigned roles but entire Hollywood is more than eager to join the film at any given opportunity. Thanks to his impeccable track-record content-wise and also at the box-office.
At a touted budget of $100m, Oppenheimer is one of Nolan’s biggest projects yet and is distributed worldwide by Universal Pictures. He penned the script himself and also co-produces the film with Emma Thomas and Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven.
As of now Oppenheimer is scheduled for a worldwide release on July 21, 2023, around two weeks before the anniversary of Hiroshima Atomic bombing. Stay tuned for more updates.
