A couple of months back, it was announced that multiple Academy Award-winning filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron was roped in to write, direct, and executive produce a premium series titled ‘Disclaimer’ for the Apple TV Plus streaming service. ‘Disclaimer’ is being touted as a psychological thriller led by Oscar winners Cate Blanchett (Elizabeth, The Aviator) and Kevin Kline (French Kiss).
Into the bargain, discussions are reportedly (via Deadline) underway that the multi-talented actor, comedian, and writer Sacha Baron Cohen will join the Apple TV+ series ‘Disclaimer’ in an undisclosed role.
The London-born actor Sacha Baron Cohen is quite popular for writing and starring in the mockumentary comedy film ‘Borat’ and its sequel for which he was nominated for Oscars in the Best Adapted Screenplay categories. He was also admired for his titular act in the riveting Netflix espionage series ‘The Spy’.
The Apple TV+ Plus series ‘Disclaimer’ is based on Renee Knight’s novel of the same name. Cate Blanchett will essay the role of an investigative journalist Catherine Ravenscroft, who has made a career out of exposing several eminent institutions. Things take a U-turn for her when she herself becomes the subject of a novel written by Kevin Kline’s character which threatens to unearth her dark, long-buried secret.
Considering the engaging source material for ‘Disclaimer’, the talented star cast, and a filmmaker of Alfonso Cuaron’s caliber at the helm, it seems that Apple TV+ Plus has already got a winner in its hands.
Alfonso Cuaron had initially come into the international limelight after directing the romantic drama film ‘Great Expectations’ (1998). Subsequently, he went on to direct ‘Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban’ (2004), the critically acclaimed dystopian drama ‘Children of Men’ (2006), sci-fi flick ‘Gravity’ (2013), and the more recent drama film ‘Roma’ (2018). Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on Alfonso Cuaron’s Apple TV Plus series ‘Disclaimer’.
