Anthony Mackie’s character Sam Wilson was given the coveted Captain America shield by Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) at the end of ‘Avengers: Endgame’ after which he appeared as the new Captain America in the Disney+ series ‘The Falcon And The Winter Soldier’. And now, he is all set to reprise his role as the titular superhero in the next Captain America film which has been titled ‘Captain America: New World Order’. The eagerly anticipated installment is slated to be released in theatres on 3rd May 2024.
And in an exciting casting update, ‘Captain America: New World Order’ aka ‘Captain America 4’ has purportedly roped in ‘Alita: Battle Angel’ lead actress Rosa Salazar in an important role. Although not officially confirmed, Rosa Salazar will most likely essay the role of Diamondback – a member of the snake-based team of villains known as the Serpent Society. Previously, it was also revealed that WWE wrestler Seth Rollins had also joined the cast of ‘Captain America 4’ as one of the antagonists.
Besides Anthony Mackie in the lead role, ‘Captain America: New World Order’ also features veteran actor Harrison Ford, who will be playing the role of Thunderbolt Ross and the US President. With a relatively smaller screen time in ‘Captain America 4’, Harrison Ford will appear in a more substantial role in the subsequent Phase-5 MCU film ‘Thunderbolts’, which will be released just a few months later. Moreover, Tim Blake Nelson will reprise his role as Bruce Banner’s super intelligent adversary Leader from the 2008 film ‘The Incredible Hulk’ in ‘Captain America 4’.
To be directed by Nigerian American filmmaker Julius Onah, the underlying premise of ‘Captain America: New World Order’ will ostensibly revolve around the effects of becoming the new Captain America on Anthony Mackie’s character Sam Wilson.
