Megastar Akshay Kumar was quick to announce his digital debut project titled ‘The End’ back in 2019 with a daredevil action stunt to match his image. The Amazon Original web series that was to see a 2021 release, got delayed due to the pandemic and is now scheduled to go on floors early next year. The shoot is expected to last 3 months and the makers are now planning for an August 2022 release. Post completing the shoot of ‘RamSetu‘ in Gujarat by the year end, Akshay will then join the sets of ‘The End’, that will apparently be shot in many countries across the globe.
Bankrolled by Vikram Malhotra of Abundantia Entertainment, ‘The End’ will be a three-part series and have around 8 episodes per season. The series is said to be a futuristic action thrillers set in an alternate futuristic timeline of universe. During the launch of this huge project, Akshay Kumar told the media that it was his son, who eventually pushed him into joining the web space. “Honestly, I have been inspired by my son. He told me that I have to get into the digital space. It’s amazing to learn from the youngsters,” the actor shared.
Not revealing much about the OTT series, Akshay did mention that the plot is a fun, entertaining one and will have him performing a lot of action sequences, which is quite a no-brainer, considering his image. “I have always believed in bringing innovation to my work and throughout my career, have tried to tell unique stories, work with break-through talent and be part of disruptive and high-quality story-telling. I am working very closely with Vikram and his team as they create this compelling and highly intriguing story. I can’t wait to start rolling for this action-adventure series that will be an Amazon Original for global audiences. The digital world excited me and I am delighted to make my streaming debut with this show. On this medium, I want to create something extraordinary and connect with the youth,” he said.
Akshay Kumar is one of the busiest actors of Bollywood and is awaiting the release of mass entertainers ‘Sooryavanshi‘ and ‘Bachchan Pandey‘, besides historical drama ‘Prithviraj’ and romantic musical ‘Atrangi Re’ with Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan. Apart from ‘The End’, the actor also has ‘Oh My God 2’, mythological thriller ‘Ram Setu’ also featuring Jacqueline Fernandez and Nushrratt Bharuccha, suspense thriller ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Raksha Bandhan’ alongside Bhumi Pednekar in the pipeline.
