All About Prime Video’s John Wick Prequel Series ‘The Continental’

Prime Video has announced cast, crew, release and other details of its highly anticipated series ‘The Continental’. Set in the ‘John Wick’ universe, it is a prequel series to the exceptionally successful, blockbuster movie franchise. ‘The Continental’ will be centred on the notoriously exclusive hotel from the John Wick movies. Some of the most thrilling action set-pieces in the Keanu Reeves-headlined John Wick movie series take place at The Continental.

‘The Continental’ will launch exclusively on Prime Video for its members worldwide, excluding the U.S., Israel and the Middle East. The three-part action event series will launch on Peacock in the USA. The series is slated to release sometime in 2023. However, there’s no confirmed date for the release yet. The prequel is produced by Lionsgate Television

The Continental will star Colin Woodell, Mel Gibson, Ayomide Adegun, Ben Robson, Hubert Point-Du Jour, Jessica Allain, Mishel Prada, Nhung Kate and Peter Greene, in pivotal roles. The prequel series will tell the story from the point of view of subtly discreet hotel manager Winston Scott, portrayed by Ian McShane in the film franchise.

The Continental will feature a younger version of the manager, to be played by Colin Woodell (The Flight Attendant); and will follow Winston through the underworld of ‘70’s New York, where he will battle demons from his past as he attempts to seize control of the iconic hotel – a hotel that serves as a meeting point for the world’s most dangerous criminals.

The cast of The Continental includes Mel Gibson as Cormac; Ayomide Adegun as a younger version of Charon; Ben Robson as Frankie; Hubert Point-Du Jour as Miles; Jessica Allain as Lou; Mishel Prada as KD; Nhung Kate (The Housemaid) as Yen; and Peter Greene (Training Day) as a young Uncle Charlie, the tight-lipped body disposal expert in the John Wick universe.

The 3-part series will recount the events of the story over three nights. Albert Hughes directs the first and third nights, and Charlotte Brandstrom directs the second night. Greg Coolidge and Kirk Ward are the writers and showrunners on The Continental. Shawn Simmons is also writer and executive producer on the show.
