It’s been almost four years since the release of a Shah Rukh Khan film. Zero was the Bollywood superstar’s last release, which had also unfortunately bombed at the box office. Shah Rukh Khan fans are therefore suitably restless and eager to watch their favourite star conquer the big screen like always. After a lull of four years, there’s tremendous good news for Shah Rukh fans.
Not only is the actor busy in back to back shoots, but also realising a long-cherished dream of his fans – a film with Rajkumar Hirani. What was believed to be speculation has now been confirmed. Shah Rukh Khan is doing a film with Rajkumar Hirani. The much-anticipated film went on the floors yesterday. Shah Rukh Khan, who was in the midst of wrapping his shoot for South director Atlee’s film, is set to join the shoot of the Rajkumar Hirani film from this weekend.
The Shah Rukh Khan – Rajkumar Hirani film is said to be a social comedy on the lines of the director’s previous films, ‘3 Idiots’, ‘Munnabhai MBBS’, etc. The film will touch upon the topic of immigration, and the travails that go with it. Rajkumar Hirani’s films are adept at delivering a poignant message, hidden in the layers of humour and drama. Shah Rukh Khan’s film with Hirani will follow the director’s tried and tested success formula. Shah Rukh Khan will obviously be an invaluable asset to the template. His most-loved films among his legion of fans have been message-driven films such as Chak De India, Dear Zindagi and Swades.
We even have details of the other cast members of the as yet untitled Shah Rukh Khan – Rajkumar Hirani film. Taapsee Pannu is playing the female lead in the film. Veteran actor Dharmendra is playing Shah Rukh Khan’s father. Vicky Kaushal is also said to have a pivotal role in the film.
Shoot for the film has commenced in Mumbai’s Film City. A huge set recreating a Punjab village has been erected at Film City. A 40-45 day long shooting schedule has been planned for Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani’s maiden collaboration. The shoot will then move abroad to Budapest and London.
