“All Of Us Strangers,” as soon as it came, caught the eyes of the masses. Focusing not on the warmth of love, but on telling the tale of the cold, harsh truth of love, which is about discovering yourself. Loosely based on ‘Stranger’ by Taichi Yamada, the film captures you from the very first shot.
The sunlight peeking through the window as Andrew Scott, the story’s Adam, looks through the window to a very mentally dystopian world. The first few frames of the London sky do set the tone for the film as it is far from being a romance.
Adam, a lonely screenwriter, encounters the charismatic Harry. Seeking inspiration, Adam visits his childhood home, finding his deceased parents mysteriously alive.
Torn between reality and this dreamlike past, he navigates a passionate relationship with Harry while confronting unresolved grief and reconciling with his parents.
In terms of sheer acting, the film is a gem, and the writing has reached a state of being almost perfect. “All Of Us Strangers” manages to adapt great cinematography with such a heavy topic; the film is both beautiful and brutal at the same time.
As per the cast, Andrew Scott nails his role, and you wouldn’t expect otherwise. “Normal People’s” Paul Mescal delivers too. Faces such as Jamie Bell and Claire Foy look valuable too.
And as the recent updates say, the film is coming to OTT. For the global audience, it will be streaming on Hulu from February 22nd. For the Indian audience, Searchlight Pictures’ most films are already streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, so that might be the platform where you can stream it.
