All That’s Releasing on OTT And Theatrically For Ganesh Chaturthi

This Ganesh Chaturthi/ Vinayaka Chavithi season is growing to be an enormous Blockbuster feast, stacked with hugely anticipated releases, both digitally as well as in theatres. Due to the uncertainty still surrounding the theatrical medium, most filmmakers unwilling to risk the fate of their films, have instead opted for a digital release, the biggest ones among them being Saif Ali Khan-Arjun Kapoor starrer ‘Bhoot Police’ on Disney+Hotstar, Nani’s ‘Tuck Jagadish’, on Amazon Prime Video and Vijay Sethupathi’s ‘Tughlaq Durbar’ releasing on Netflix on the 10th of September. Infact, ‘Bhoot Police’ was earlier scheduled to release on 17th September, but has been proponed by a week. This decision was probably made because Disney+Hotstar unlike its competitors, didn’t have a release for this festive season, after the ‘Andhadhun’ remake ‘Maestro’ was pushed by a week. Consequently, the platform has 2 releases for the following weekend, ‘Maestro’ as well as the Vijay Sethupathi-Taapsee Pannu starrer ‘Annabelle Sethupathi’.

As far as theatrical releases are concerned, the ones making the most noise are Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Thalaivii’, Vijay Sethupathi’s ‘Laabam’ and Gopichand’s ‘Seetimaarr’. Apart from blockbuster movies, we also have a couple of incredible Indian and International web shows relasing this weekend so all audiences have something to look forward to! So here’s a list of all the OTT and Theatrical Releases for the 9th & 10th September, on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.

1. Laabam (In Theatres)
This Vijay Sethupathi starrer is slated for a theatrical release on 9th September. The film is a political thriller starring Sethupathi with Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, Sai Dhanshika and Kalaiyarasan in pivotal roles. This is director S. P. Jananathan’s last film, being released posthumously.

2. Mumbai Diaries 26/11 (Amazon Prime Video)
This new web show headlined by Mohit Raina and Konkona Sen Sharma tells the tale of that fateful night when Mumbai was under siege. 3. Thalaivii (In Theatres)
Directed by A L Vijay, this biopic on late actress-turned-politician Jayalalithaa, is a multi-lingual, pan-India film to be released simultaneously in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The film also stars Arvind Swamy, Madhoo and Bhagyashree and is scheduled for a theatrical release on 10th September.
