Woke up this morning to the news that one of the most intelligent sci-fi shows on streaming has been cancelled after a mere two seasons in. And of course, the perpetuator is none other than Netflix — the king of random cancellations!
The show in question is Altered Carbon, the mind-bending show that showcased a truly intriguing premise – transferring one’s memory into stacks, changing the body like a sleeve and becoming immortal. It starred Anthony Mackie in Season 2, and had a good rating on ratings sites. Sigh, another day, another good show bites the dust at Netflix!
Netflix is not the only streaming platform with a penchant for cancelling shows on the drop of a hat. Every streamer is guilty of the crime. In fact, its own cancelled shows aside, Netflix has played saviour to tons of popular shows that got cancelled by their original streamers – Lucifer, You, Cobra Kai are just a few of the names that come off the top of the head.
That said, here is a list of all the shows that got cancelled in 2020 on various platforms. Please note that we’ve included those shows too that are on platforms not available in India, only because shows of non-India platforms land on Netflix, Amazon Prime, Voot Select, SonyLIV or Disney Plus Hotstar sooner or later.
