Hotstar is poised to premiere the eight-episode sci-fi and crime thriller series ‘Devs’ on its platform on 6th March. The show will stream on Hulu in the US, but courtesy Hotstar’s tie-up with Hulu, Indian viewers will get a chance to watch it on Hotstar. And yes, they will be able to watch the eagerly anticipated show just a day after its US premiere, which happens on 5th March.
Devs tells the story of computer engineer Lily Chan (Sonoya Mizuno), whose boyfriend (Karl Glusman) joins ‘Devs’, the research and development division of a quantum computing company called Amaya, run by Forest (Nick Offerman). The boyfriend commits suicide shortly after joining Devs, but Lily believes it is not suicide, but something else. She suspects that Amaya and Devs are the reason behind the disappearance of her boyfriend.
She begins investigations into the company, only to realise that there’s something enigmatic and sinister about Forest and his company. She soon discovers the answer – a futuristic technology that can predict human responses and thereby control them, along with much more complex concepts that are revealed to viewers over the eight episodes of the series.
The series is written and directed by Alex Garland, master of sci-fi and techno-thrillers.
The cast comprises Sonoya Mizuno, Nick Offerman, Jin Ha, Zach Grenier, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Cailee Spaeny, and Alison Pill in the series’ main roles.
Devs premieres on Hotstar on 6th March 2020.
