Streaming giant Amazon Prime Video recently revealed a riveting teaser of its upcoming film ‘Sherni’. As per the official synopsis, the film revolves around an upright forest officer (played by Vidya Balan), who strives for balance in a world of man-animal conflict while she also seeks her true calling in a hostile environment.
The Amazon Twitter post started off with the words “No matter what, she will do the right thing! Trailer out, June 2. Meet #SherniOnPrime, June 2021.”
The teaser starts off with an aerial view of a dense forest and cuts to Vidya Balan’s character examining the area. Alongside the video, there is also a voice over by the actress: “Jungle kitna bhi ghana kyun na ho, sherni apna raasta dhoondh hi leti hai” (No matter how dense the jungle is, the tigress knows her way).
The thirty seconds teaser video of the upcoming Amazon Original Movie ‘Sherni’ ends with the director and the producers’ names shown against an image of a tiger’s pawprint. The video further informs us that Sherni’s trailer will be out on June 2, 2021.
Helmed by talented filmmaker Amit Masurkar, ‘Sherni’ is his next directorial venture after his immensely admired film ‘Newton’. ‘Newton’ was a universally acclaimed dark comedy featuring Rajkumar Rao and Pankaj Tripathi in prominent roles. The film had won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi.
Riding high on the success of ‘Newton’ and with accomplished performer Vidyan Balan featuring in the lead role in Amit Masurkar’s ‘Sherni’, the film is being eagerly awaited by cinema lovers. ‘Sherni’ also features Vijay Raaz, Neeraj Kabi, Sharat Saxena and Ila Arun. Vidya Balan’s last feature film appearance was in the biographical drama ‘Shakuntala Devi’.
