Typically when a studio is confident of its readied product, it goes ahead with a sequel. It has happened many times, and Amazon Studio itself has done so recently on a few occasions. Carnival Row, The Boys, come to our mind. Well, here is a different case even for them.
Amazon Studio has put into motion one of the epic undertakings on the digital platform. The announcement of the show itself got one of the biggest buzzes ever. It is such a crazy project. They are making a Lord Of The Rings series set in a different period than movies. The shooting is currently underway, and there is still a long time for it to be complete.
However, even before the completion of the series, the production has given the green light to a second season. In fact, if the reports doing the rounds are to be believed, only the first two episodes are being canned currently.
The scripting is underway with the same team of writers involved. It shows the immense faith Amazon Studio has on the content. JA Bayona directs the Lord Of The Rings series. The first season comprises of 20 episodes. It is going to debut on Amazon Prime Video in 2021.
