When it comes to exploring contents from various other regions, Netflix is the first name that comes to everyone’s minds, but now it looks like Amazon Prime Video also has joined the competition. Amazon Prime Video will be launching its first ever Italian Amazon Original this year and this one will be a young adult comedy. Amazon Studios has also in fact very recently started their journey in the young adult arena with the web series “The Wilds” and two more web-series coming up.
The first Italian Amazon Original is named “Dog Years” and follows the journey of a 16 year old teenage girl who has her life twisted in every possible way like all other teenagers. As she tries to control life, a car accident changes and turns everything around her upside down. This car accident involves a dog and after the incident, she starts counting her years in dog years. This means that one year in her life is equal to 7 years. As she reaches the age of 16, she feels that she has very little time left and this leads her to create her bucket list.
Her bucket list includes everything she has ever wanted to do all throughout her and now she wants to achieve it all in just one year. Touted to be a comedy, the movie definitely holds a story that will make people laugh but also teach something to everyone. The movie will be released in the fall this year and will be released in 240 countries and territories worldwide.
The film has just started with the production, and is written by Mary Stella Brugiati and Alessandro Bosi, and produced by Notorious Pictures. The movie will be directed by Fabio Mollo who is known for his Mafia drama “South Is Nothing”. The actors for the movie are still kept under wraps.
With this movie, Amazon is hoping to increase its reach and also viewers in the European regions besides the UK. Bringing an Italian movie to the audience guarantees many more viewers for them. Dog Years is apparently one of the first scripts from Amazon Studios Italy that has received the green light. There are many more that are on its way and officials believe this will definitely be a gamechanger.
