Amazon Prime has got the global rights to exclusively stream all the upcoming films of Yash Raj Films (YRF) – “Jayeshbhai Jordaar,” “Shamshera,” “Pathaan,” “Tiger 3,” “Shamshera,” and “Prithviraj”. According to rumours, the streaming giant has paid more than 200 crores for “Pathaan,” starring Shah Rukh Khan and “Tiger 3,” starring Salman Khan. Excluding “Pathaan” and “Tiger 3,” all the rest will be streamed after four weeks on the OTT platform post their theatrical release, while the excluded ones will be streamed after eight weeks. Currently the movies are under the production phase, with it’s release expected to be in the second half of 2022.
Amazon Prime has already all the previous films of the big production house in it’s content slate like the classics – “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge,” “Dil To Pagal Hai,” “Darr,” barring SRK’s “Fan.”
The global digital premiere will definitely attract a lot of viewers for this highly anticipated films – specially “Pathaan,” as our superstar Shah Rukh Khan is making a comeback almost after four years, his last being 2018 film “Zero.”
Not just YRF, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s production house Excel Entertainment that previously had partnership with Netflix had also made a license deal with Amazon Prime to stream it’s 5 upcoming films – “Phone Bhoot,” Yudhra,” “Fukrey 3,” “Jee Le Zara,” starring the trio- Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt and “Kho Gaye Hain Hum Kahan”.
So it seems like the OTT giant is highly in demand in the upcoming days for it’s seamless access to the top-rated movies and series, with the users streaming it from their homes easily and without any hassle. Also this foreign platform is quite in the race to win the streaming war, willing to pay a lucrative amount owing to the popularity of the Bollywood industry.
