Maharshi starring Mahesh Babu is the landmark 25th film of the star. It also marked his first collaboration with director Vamshi Paidipally. The movie opened to mixed reviews yet had a good run theatrically and is soon going to complete its fifty days at the cinemas. The concept of weekend farming proved to be inspirational as well as a great marketing tool that helped the film secure good public perception.
The Suriya starrer, on the other hand, was a disaster in Telugu. It fared reasonably better in Tamil, but much more was expected from it due to the combination of Selva Raghavan with the actor. It was a pairing that movie lovers were waiting for a decade, but the final output didn’t match the expectations. It could prove to be a different case with online viewing, though as the theme has a definite relevance.
For movie lovers irrespective of their box office fate, Maharshi and NGK offer good food for binge-watching viewers. Once again, it is Amazon Prime Video, which is leading on this front as they get the most hotly anticipated movies in its fold.
