Amazon Prime Video has finally added the long awaited feature – user’s profile. This is similar to Netflix’s feature which allows multiple users to access one single account. Every user can make their own profile, add titles to their watchlist, view recommendations based on the titles they frequently watch and monitor their viewing progress.
The new profiles will be first available in the Prime Video app on iOS & Android, Gen 10 and higher Fire Tablets, and the Fire TV Prime Video app, in addition to the Prime Video apps built for other living room devices (such as PlayStation 4). The feature will be slowly available globally and so, not all users will be able to see the user’s profile immediately.
Each account can have up to six profiles. One will be the default primary account and five more accounts will be allowed. Accounts can be either regular or exclusively for kids. Kids account will restrict the content not suitable for children (similar to Netflix). Every account will be allowed to stream three videos at once with no more than two devices streaming the same content at any given point of time. Users on Amazon Prime Video will not be able to change their profile icons with pictures from any show or movie. Only the name of every profile can be edited.
IMPORTANT: If customers do not wish to share their account, they can disable the feature from ‘Manage your profile’ page. However, this feature once disabled, cannot be turned on again.
