Amazon Prime Video has swooped in to grab the buzzy action comedy film ‘Shotgun Wedding’ that features a stunning lead pair of Jennifer Lopez and Armie Hammer. Amazon Prime Video picked up the film amidst a hotly-contested scenario. Shotgun Wedding was a much-in-demand film at the annual American Film Market (AFM) event, held virtually this year. Shotgun Wedding was pegged at a high $65M (as per Deadline) at the AFM.
As of now, Amazon Prime Video has secured the streaming rights for the key international territories of UK/Ire, France, Italy, Spain, Australia/NZ, Canada, Benelux and Latin America. Rights for other crucial territories such as Asia and Scandinavia are still under negotiation.
Shotgun Wedding has an exhilarating premise. It is an action comedy where JLo and Armie Hammer play a couple that decides to have a destination wedding. But even as friends and families gather at the destination, the couple starts to get cold feet. To worsen things, the entire entourage is taken hostage by criminals. In the process of saving their loved ones, the couple rediscovers the reasons they fell in love and wanted to marry each other in the first place.
The film is being directed by Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect), and written by Mark Hammer (Beautiful Ruins) and Liz Meriwether (New Girl).
Todd Lieberman, David Hoberman, Jennifer Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Benny Medina are the producers of Shotgun Wedding, while Ryan Reynolds is one of the executive producers.
