Thalapathy Vijay’s Master is the first blockbuster in Tamil cinema after the pandemic. The movie released in January during the festive season and ended up as a huge hit. But the makers have surprised everyone by opting for Digital Release just two weeks after its theatrical release. Amazon offered a premium to release the movie early on OTT. But then, it has registered massive gains due to the shorter window.
Amazon Prime Video tried to deploy a similar strategy to woo the Telugu audience. The OTT giant offered a premium to the makers of Pawan Kalyan‘s Vakeel Saab to release the film online two weeks after its theatrical release. But then, the makers refused and according to the agreement, the movie will not release before fifty days after its theatrical release.
This will ensure longer theatrical window for the film. Pawan Kalyan is the craziest hero in Telugu land. Moreover, Vakeel Saab is a sort of comeback by him after a three years break. So, it would have been a perfect opportunity for Amazon Prime Video to make inroads further into the Telugu audience but it is not happening. Vakeel Saab is the official Telugu remake of Bollywood Blockbuster, Pink.
