The Indian arm of OTT giant Amazon Prime Video has, earlier today, announced a new season for its anthology ‘Unpaused’, whose first installment came out in December 2020. The new season titled ‘Unpaused Naya Safar’ will commence streaming on the OTT platform from 21st January 2022 onwards.
‘Unpaused: Naya Safar’ would narrate five unique stories featuring raw human emotions including love, longing, fear, and friendship and which would somehow relate to how the pandemic has changed people’s lives, thereby making us realize the value of life and emotions like never before.
Amazon had also revealed a poster for the forthcoming anthology series which suggests that, like the first part, ‘Unpaused Naya Safar’ too will comprise five short segments to be helmed by five different directors. The five shorts are titled ‘The Couple’, ‘War Room’, ‘Teen Tigada’, ‘Gond Ke Laddu’, and ‘Vaikunth’. And the five filmmakers who have directed these segments are Nupur Asthana, Ayappa K M, Nagraj, Ruchir Arun, Shikha Makan, and Nagraj Manjule respectively.
The anthology features a talented cast that includes the likes of Shreya Dhanwanthary (Scam 1992), Priyanshu Painyuli (Mirzapur), Saqib Saleem (‘83), and Geetanjali Kulkarni (Court), amongst others.
On the other hand, the first anthology ‘Unpaused’ was helmed by a completely different set of five filmmakers namely Tannishtha Chatterjee, Raj & DK, Nitya Mehra, Nikhil Advani, and Avinash Arun. And it featured an ensemble cast including Gulshan Devaiah, Sumeet Vyas, Saiyami Kher, Richa Chadha, Abhishek Bannerjee, Ratna Pathak Shah, and Lillete Dubey, etc.
Filmed during the pandemic period, the first edition of the ‘Unpaused’ anthology revolved around disparate themes of love, hope, and loneliness and it garnered widespread acclaim from audiences and critics alike.
