Amazon Studios, the parent company of Amazon Prime Video, has commissioned a series on the iconic character of Jack Reacher, the US Army Military Police Corps officer made popular by Tom Cruise in two Hollywood movies.
The series will adapt author Lee Child’s best-selling book series on Jack Reacher. The books are popular across the globe, having been translated into 49 languages and sold more than a 100 million copies, raking in more than one billion dollars in cumulative sales.
The series is being made in partnership with Skydance Television and Paramount Television Studios. Scorpion creator Nick Santora will be writing and executive producing the series. Author of the series Lee Child will also serve as executive producer.
Jack Reacher is a retired military officer who now lives a nomadic life and doubles up as a freewheeling investigator and problem solver.
As of now, the first novel in the Jack Reacher series, called The Killing Floor, will make it to celluloid, as the first season of the show. Amazon Studios hasn’t announced a cast or streaming date yet.
