Amazon Studios has bagged the rights to ‘The Dwelling’, an unpublished thriller short story by Aaron Jayh, in a tight auction after outbidding Netflix. The duo of Michael B. Jordan and Elizabeth Raposo will produce the film adaptation. Jordan may also star in this project, according to Deadline.
The short story will get adapted by Aaron Guzikowski for the upcoming film. He is best known for his work in Denis Villeneuve’s Prisoners (2013) and Apple TV’s Raised by Wolves.
Many studios were in line to win ‘The Dwelling’ rights. In the end, it all came down to Amazon and Netflix.
The short story revolves around a newly divorced father, a former pro football player. His life slowly begins to get out of control after he discovers a mysterious house buried in the backyard of his home. His past injuries make him question what is imaginary and what is real.
Jordan and Raposo co-produced Creed 3, which performed outstandingly at the global box office, grossing over $250 million in the first four weeks.
‘The Dwellling’ currently has no release window. But given the popularity of Michael B. Jordan and the hype around the film adaptation, Amazon is likely to begin the film’s production soon. Stay tuned for more updates.
