Amazon’s ‘Tandav’: Politics Gets Trickier & Dirtier In This Riveting Drama

The much awaited Amazon Original series ‘Tandav‘ has its trailer out now and from the look of it, its going to be one hell of a series. Coming from the makers of ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ and ‘Sultan’, ‘Tandav’ is all set to launch only on Amazon Prime Video on 15th January, 2021.

‘Tandav’ follows the story of intense political rivalry, mainly between Samar Pratap Singh (Saif Ali Khan) and Anuradha (Dimple Kapadia). When Samar’s Prime Minister father dies, he plans on taking his place only to be stopped by Anuradha who knows his dirty secret and instead forces him to endorse her as PM on twitter.

But these are not the only characters at play here, the story has many more and all have equally important roles. In the trailer, Samar gets described as a dictator who could divide the nation, ruining its democracy by a veteran politicians (Kumud Mishra), who has himself never been PM but ousted three of them out of the parliament, and looks like he wouldn’t shy away from doing it again if the need arises.

With his dream of taking over as PM being quashed, Samar decides to bring into play ‘Chanakya Neeti’ and become a king maker instead. For this, he gets his hands on a young and influential student politician, Shiva Shekhar (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub), and tries to make him his puppet but it ain’t gonna be that easy. Shiva is filled with rage and politics is his way to vent it out. And now he wants to make his own party and fight for PM’s position and power through it.

Meanwhile we have Sunil Grover playing the role of Samar’s right-hand man and doing all his dirty work. If anyone stands out in the trailer for their performance, hands down it’s going to be him for switching over effortlessly from his comic personality into this hard-hitting edgy man.

Amazon’s ‘Tandav‘ at one point also takes at a dig at university students where a policeman claims that terrorists aren’t coming from outside the country but being prepared in the university. Well, we all know what the indication here is and could very well start a controversy, creating some troubles for the show and its makers.

The trailer is just a glimpse of all that’s in store and let us tell you it’s a lot. If the amazon original show ‘Tandav’ turns out as intriguing as the trailer, it’s going to go through the roofs for sure. Moreover, in times of brural crime-thrillers all over the place, Amazon Prime Video’s ‘Tandav’ is a welcome change with its mind games and political intricacies doing the trick for it.
