Squid Game became a global sensation after arriving on Netflix in 2021. It shattered several records, including gaining the top spot on the streaming platform’s charts in many countries. It also became one of the most-watched Netflix series ever. The grand success of Season 1 inspired the streaming service to renew the show for a second season, which is in development right now. However, it seems like the series’ American remake may arrive on Netflix. According to Jeff Sneider’s The Hot Mic podcast, the streaming giant may develop an American remake of the original Korean series.
On top of that, Netflix is reportedly eyeing David Fincher to create and produce the show. Sneider even tweeted about this whole scenario:
HOT RUMOR: Netflix is courting DAVID FINCHER to produce and direct an American take on SQUID GAME. No idea whether he's engaging, but they want him to tackle this project BADLY, per multiple sources.

The leading man, Lee Jung-jae, has shared intriguing updates about Squid Game Season 2. He recently had an interview with Ilgan Sports from London, where he revealed the second season’s filming schedule.
“Squid Game 2 will begin filming in the summer and the filming will likely last for about 10 months. We were working on season 1 for about 10 months as well, but that was with delays caused by COVID-19. But seeing as season 2 will be bigger in scale, it will probably take longer to complete,” the actor revealed.
Created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, Squid Game revolves around a secret competition consisting of 456 players. All these players want to win the grand prize of 45.6 billion (in South Korean Won) to get rid of their financial hardships. They have to play a series of simple-turned-deadly childhood games to win the cash prize.
The idea of Squid Game’s American remake will not sit well with many fans. Let’s see if we get an official announcement from Netflix about this case. Stay tuned for more updates.
