We are talking about the adventure crime thriller movie ‘The River Wild’, which came out in the year 1994. The hidden gem is currently streaming in India on the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform on a rental / pay-per-view basis (at Rs.99/-).
‘The River Wild’ revolves around a Boston-based married couple – history teacher Gail (Meryl Streep) and her workaholic husband Tom (David Strathairn), who are going through a rough phase in their marital life. Gail, who is also an expert rafter, goes on a white-water rafting trip with her son and husband. On the vacation, the family meets two seemingly friendly strangers Wade (Kevin Bacon) and Terry, whose true intentions are revealed later. What happens next forms the film’s crux.
The movie was directed by late Oscar-winning filmmaker Curtis Hanson, who later also directed the star-studded neo-noir crime film ‘L.A. Confidential’. We recommend you watch ‘The River Wild’ for the scenic cinematography and Meryl Streep’s earnest performance. Although the film had received rather mixed reviews from critics.
