It has been a happy Diwali for the Tamil film industry at least in the OTT space. Who would have thought last Diwali that things would go topsy-turvy for the Tamil Cinema? Coronavirus changed the pattern of how cinema is consumed. This Diwali, big Tamil star movies are being viewed on streaming platforms worldwide, while small budget films made their way to the theaters.
Two big films – Suriya’s Soorarai Pottru and RJ Balaji – Nayanthara’s Mookuthi Amman have released online and both of them have got good reviews and public talk. These films have treated the audience with good content in the festive season and now all eyes are on Andhaghaaram releasing on Netflix on the 24th of this month.
Andhaghaaram is a supernatural thriller written and directed by a newcomer, V. Vignarajan. The fact that it is produced by promising young filmmaker Atlee got a craze for the film. If the movie also attains success, Tamil film content will become more popular with audiences across the country and also will improve the OTT market for Tamil films in the coming days. The film stars Arjun Das and Vinoth Kishan in lead roles. Pooja Ramachandran and Misha Ghoshal are the heroines.
