First reviews for Andor Season 2 are out now! And, boy, oh boy! Many critics are singing praises for the second season, with some even declaring it better than Season 1, which is a pretty huge compliment, considering the critical highs the first season reached.
Season 1 of Andor was nothing short of a miracle when it premiered on Disney+ (now available on JioHotstar for the Indian audience) in September 2022. It scored a staggering 96% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on over 600 certified reviews—which is a tremendous feat in itself. This shows just how great the debut season from the Star Wars universe turned out.
The audience’s response to the first season was overwhelmingly positive, meaning Season 2 had a lot to live up to. And it did, in the best possible way.
According to the first reviews, Andor Season 2 is every bit as outstanding and exhilarating as its predecessor, with some critics even calling it an improvement over Season 1.
The second season unfolds across four three-episode arcs, each representing a year in the Star Wars timeline. This structure culminates in 1 BBY, the year before the destruction of the Death Star. While the significant time jumps might initially raise doubts, Season 2 grounds its narrative in a crucial planet tied to the Death Star’s origin: Ghorman.
Critics have also praised the performances of Diego Luna (Cassian Andor) and Adria Arjona (Bix Caleen). But the actor who has truly stolen the limelight this time is Genevieve O’Reilly, who plays Mon Mothma.
Once again, Luthen’s (Stellan Skarsgård) unwavering commitment to achieving his larger goals—no matter the cost—is a central theme of the season. This dedication proves especially significant when the series offers a surprisingly moving look into his and Kleya’s (Elizabeth Dulau) shared history, providing valuable context.
Andor Season 2 will be released in India on JioHotstar on April 23. The series will premiere with its first three episodes, followed by weekly drops of three new episodes at a time.
Here are some of the first reviews for Andor Season 2!
Andor is back for a second and final season, fomenting rebellion and inching closer to the seasoned operative we met in Rogue One. But as good as the first season was, having the title character’s end point in sight is exact. why Andor Season 2 is even better.

ANDOR season 2 is an exhilarating and ethically probing revolutionary spy thriller, less a series of “four movies” than an intricately designed season of Star Wars on the nature of fascism and the need for rebellion — in all its forms. One of the best seasons of TV in years. pic.twitter.com/6T0w03PFhn

#Andor S2 is a MASTERCLASS in slow-burn storytelling — GROUNDED, GRIPPING, and deeply focused on the personal sacrifices behind the rebellion. The structure is ambitious, sometimes uneven, but ultimately powerful. This is proof Star Wars thrives through genre, not nostalgia. pic.twitter.com/kGp20vmW8k

#ANDOR S2 is a masterfully crafted thriller that is TENSE, INTIMATE, & UNFLINCHINGLY REAL. Diego Luna, Genevieve O’Reilly & Adria Arjona are phenomenal. No lightsabers, just raw stakes. This is the Rebellion at its strongest. Thank you Tony Gilroy, it’s a Star Wars fan’s dream! pic.twitter.com/78TL1S1FOC
