One of the writers from the acclaimed ‘Andor’ series, Beau Willimon, has been tapped to co-write James Mangold’s ‘Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi’ (working title), according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Dawn of the Jedi was first announced at last year’s Star Wars Celebration in London. The film is expected to take place nearly 25,000 years before any other Star Wars project, and will explore the origins of the Force.
Speaking of recent Star Wars announcements, The Mandalorian and Grogu movie has also received a release window – May 26, 2026.
Dawn of the Jedi has no release date, but Mangold is expected to shift his attention and efforts to the upcoming Star Wars movie after completing filming of ‘A Complete Unknown’, his Bob Dylan biopic which has Timothee Chalamet as the lead. This one is being produced by Searchlight Pictures.
Beau Willimon has ventured into ‘the galaxy far, far away’ before via the Disney+ Andor series, based on the titular character played by Diego Luna. He wrote three episodes of Andor. Willimon is primarily known for creating Netflix’s House of Cards series. In addition, he has served as screenwriter for films like The Ides of March (2011) and Mary Queen of Scots (2018).
