Oh, poor Andrew! No one will believe you now! Andrew Garfield spent months denying his appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home until the movie’s theatrical release in 2021.
His version of the Amazing Spider-Man appeared alongside the OG Spider-Man, Tobey Maguire, to help Tom Holland’s Peter Parker take down villains from their respective timelines.
Now, with Spider-Man 4 currently under development, the Marvel rumour mill has started churning once again. And Garfield, as always, is doing his best to deny any involvement in the upcoming MCU project.
Garfield’s appearance in Spider-Man 4 depends on the movie’s plot. Marvel Studios has not yet divulged any details about the storyline.
So, we don’t know whether the fourth entry will revolve around another significant multiversal threat or take a completely different direction from No Way Home.
The new chapter could take Spidey back to his comic book roots, especially since he relocates to New York at the end of No Way Home.
In a recent interview with GQ, Garfield addressed rumours about his appearance in Spider-Man 4. He denied any involvement with the film and acknowledged that fans wouldn’t believe him now.
“I’m gonna disappoint you,” he said. “Yeah, no. But I know no one’s gonna trust anything I say from now on.”
Andrew, you dug your own grave, buddy! Although, we shouldn’t be too hard on the man. Both Marvel Studios and Sony went to great lengths to keep his appearance in No Way Home under wraps.
If he had admitted to his role in No Way Home when first asked, it would have ruined the movie’s “surprise factor.”
However, Garfield’s appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home has opened doors for the actor to potentially become a part of several upcoming MCU projects, such as Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars, according to rumours. Let’s see what happens.
Spider-Man 4 is yet to receive an official title. It is scheduled for a theatrical release on July 24, 2026. Stay tuned for more updates.
