Ekta Kapoor and Alt Balaji have chalked out the next web series that they plan to create, and it is a fast-paced cop-and-criminal drama called MUMbhai.
The title of the show MUMbhai itself suggests that it will take a deep dive into the Mumbai underworld, due to the innovative portmanteau of the two words – Mumbai and Bhai. Bhai is used to describe an underworld don in Mumbai lexicon.
As per reports in the media, the narrative tells the story of the friendship between a cop and a criminal, set in the milieu of the Mumbai underbelly, and spanning a period from the late nineties to the 2000s.
According to sources, Angad Bedi has been signed on to play the part of the cop, while Sikander Kher will essay the role of the criminal. The cop character takes inspiration from real-life cop, Daya Nayak, controversial encounter specialist with the Mumbai police force.
Angad Bedi had recently impressed both critics and audiences with his compelling turn as a flamboyant lawyer in Alt Balaji’s well-received web series, The Verdict: State vs Nanavati.
