After SRK’s ‘Jawan’ and ‘Pathaan’, Ranbir Kapoor starrer gangster action flick ‘Animal’ became the third highest grossing movie of 2023, grossing over a massive Rs.900 crores at the box-office globally. And it’s still running in theatres.
As per reports and recent buzz, ‘Animal’ is expected to stream on the Netflix OTT platform from 26th January 2024. And not just that, it is expected that an extended cut of ‘Animal’ will purportedly be available on OTT with eight minutes of additional runtime compared to its theatrical version.
But the exact OTT release date of ‘Animal’ is apparently still shrouded in mystery because of a legal dispute between the movie’s producers T-Series and Cine1 Studios. You might already be aware that a suit was filed by Cine1 Studios against T-Series because of allegations of breach of agreement related to the profit-sharing agreement between the parties. A stay was reportedly seeked over the OTT / digital and satellite release of ‘Animal’.
And as per a recent report, summons have been issued on the suit filed by Cine1 Studios. The matter has reportedly been listed on 22nd January for further submissions. So probably after that, it may become clear whether ‘Animal’ will certainly be released on Netflix on 26th January or not. Until then, the OTT release date of ‘Animal’ is still shrouded in mystery in the minds of fans. We just hope that the legal issue between the parties is amicably resolved, and ‘Animal’ starts streaming on Netflix from next Friday. An official release date confirmation from Netflix is still awaited in this regard.
Helmed by Sandeep Vanga Reddy, the underlying plot of the gangster action drama ‘Animal’ revolves around a complicated father-son relationship (played by Anil Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor) and how the son transforms into a violent psychopath. It also features Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead and Bobby Deol as the sadistic antagonist. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on ‘Animal’ OTT release on Netflix.
