The original Stranger Things will end after its fifth and final season. Still, the sci-fi franchise is looking to expand its roots like Vecna’s creepy tendrils. According to Variety, Netflix has ordered an animated spin-off show set within the world of the original series.
The makers are tightlipped about the show’s details. Although, we do know that the duo of Eric Robles and Flying Bark Productions will develop the show. Robles is best known for creating hit animated shows like Glitch Techs and Fanboy & Chum Chum. The Duffer Brothers will serve as the project’s executive producers, along with Robles, Shawn Levy, and Dan Cohen.
“We’ve always dreamed of an animated ‘Stranger Things’ in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realized has been absolutely thrilling,” the Duffers revealed. We couldn’t be more blown away by what Eric Robles and his team have come up with — the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues…”
Stranger Things is one of Netflix’s flagship shows. Debuted in 2016, the Duffer Brothers’ creation quickly gained global prominence upon release. It launched the careers of Mille Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, and many other talents. In February 2022, the show was renewed for its fifth and final season.
Apart from the ‘Stranger Things’ animated spin-off, The Duffers are busy creating a live-action version of the Japanese anime and manga series “Death Note”. Additionally, the brotherly duo will adapt Stephen King’s The Talisman alongside Paramount Television and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment. Stay tuned for more updates.
