Actor Anirban Bhattacharya is playing the antagonist in the upcoming show ‘Talmar Romeo Juliet’. He is the only popular name in the show and is also the creative director. He was last seen in the Othello adaptation titled ‘Athhoi’.
But Anirban Bhattacharya is being trolled for his recent comments about being silent in the recent R.G. Kar protests. The actor is admired for his range of roles and for his performances. But he was dear to people because of his touch to the social ground and involvement with what was going on.
He was synonymous with the rebellious artist who does not leave any chance to strike the oppressor. But after the R.G. Kar incident, he was probably the only actor whose voice was not heard, even on social media. He received a lot of trolling at that time. And now he explains his behaviour in a recent interview.
He has said that he is an artist and not a political leader and he has gone out of that circle now. He has also said that he has realized how this is all a failed exercise, and he is always there as a citizen but does not care to stand up as a netizen anymore. What he cares for is his work only. Producer Rana Sarkar has criticized him by saying what will his work do if he does not stand up for his people, and who will go and watch his work.
We will have to wait for some time to know whether public had really rejected Anirban or not.
