The lead cast of Anjali Menon’s Wonder Women recently sent their fans and followers into a frenzy when all of them shared photos of positive pregnancy kits on social media. But it was later clarified that Parvathy, Nithya and the other actors were part of a new film and the pregnancy kit images were a part of a social experiment. The makers announced the film’s language to be English and that it’s a direct to digital release on SonyLIV. Targeting a November 18th release, the official trailer of Wonder Women was released today.
Two days ago, Anjali Menon also shared a video where she spoke about Wonder Women. She said, “No more news of pregnancy. I think you have had plenty of that in the past couple of days from our actors who are playing their characters and announcing their good news. Yes, the promos were an idea that was also a social experiment to understand how everyone reacts to the news of pregnancy. We were blown away by the love and warmth that came our way. Thank you so much for that.”
The trailer is very much interesting and hints at the bonding and friendship of six pregnant women at a prenatal class. From whatever was shown, Wonder Women seems to be a positive and feel good film centred around expecting mothers. Feel good movies are right up Anjali Menon’s alley as well. The movie flaunts an ensemble cast including Nadiya Moidu, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Nithya Menen, Amruta Subhash, Padmapriya, Sayanora Philip and Archana Padmini.
One of Malayalam Cinema’s most popular film-makers of today, Anjali’s filmography needs no introduction. Her Bangalore Days and Ustad Hotel which she penned screenplay for are indispensable Malayalam cinema starter pack for Non Malayalis. ‘Wonder Women’ is Anjali Menon’s big come-back to films after Koode (2018). Wonder Women streams on SonyLIV from November 18th.
