Marvel had first revealed its ambitious plan to make a ‘Black Panther’ film in the year 2005. The film was finally released in the year 2018 and was praised by critics, admired by cinephiles, and eventually became a box office blockbuster. Like other films that are under development stages, Marvel is quite good at keeping its films’ plot, cast, and other details under the wraps. The same has been the case with their much anticipated ‘Black Panther’ sequel titled ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’.
In a rare and exciting revelation, one of the important characters from the 2018 film M’Baku is set to reportedly (via Collider) return to reprise his role that was essayed by Winston Duke. In a recent interview, the actor opened up about his emotional state while returning to the world of ‘Black Panther’.
The titular role of Black Panther / T’Challa was played by internationally acclaimed late actor Chadwick Boseman while the film was helmed by Ryan Coogler, who is also directing the sequel. Because of their lead actor’s absence, naturally, the filming of the sequel must be emotionally draining for the entire cast and crew and Winston Duke is no exception. The actor stated that “It was very emotional to read the script. It was emotional to pack to go back to set. But we’re all a bit of a family now and we grieve together, and we’re making something really special.”
Presently, the ‘Black Panther‘ sequel is being filmed in Atlanta. Besides Winston Duke, the other cast members who are expected to reprise their respective roles are Angela Bassett (as Ramonda), Martin Freeman (as Everett K. Ross), Danai Gurira (as Okoye), Lupita Nyong’o (as Nakia), and Letitia Wright (as Shuri). Although official confirmation is yet to be announced regarding the sequel’s old and new cast members.
‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ is expected for a grand and emotional theatrical release on 8th July 2022.
